The Biggest Weight Loss Mistakes (and How to Avoid Them)

10/15/2024

Are you frustrated with your weight loss progress?

You’re not alone. Many people unknowingly make a few key mistakes that prevent them from seeing real, lasting results.

The good news?

These mistakes are fixable! Here are three of the most common weight loss mistakes and what you can do to avoid them!

Mistake #1: Relying on Fad Diets

Online Diets promise quick results, but they often leave you feeling deprived, tired and stuck in a cycle of losing and regaining weight. The truth is, these “quick fixes” don’t address the long-term changes your body needs to sustain weight loss.

What to do instead:

Focus on building sustainable, healthy eating habits. Incorporate whole foods, and balanced meals, and avoid drastic calorie cuts. With the right guidance, you can enjoy food while losing weight—no extreme diets are required!

Mistake #2: Skipping Workouts (or Doing the Wrong Ones)

Many people believe they need to spend hours in the gym to lose weight, but that’s not true. On the other hand, skipping workouts or doing only cardio can stall your progress. Strength training is key to boosting metabolism and improving fat loss.

What to do instead:

Aim for a balanced workout routine that includes both strength training and cardio. Don’t have a routine? That’s where a personalized program comes in. You don’t have to do it alone!

Mistake #3: Focusing Only on the Scale

The scale doesn’t tell the full story. Weight fluctuates daily based on factors like water retention, muscle gain, and even stress. When you only track the number on the scale, you might miss the progress you’re making in other areas, like increased strength or better energy levels.

What to do instead:

Track your progress in multiple ways: how your clothes fit, your energy levels, and even your mood. These are just as important as weight. A coach can help you focus on the right metrics to stay motivated!
The Mindset Shift You Need for Success

At the end of the day, the biggest weight loss mistake is expecting perfection. Life happens, and setbacks are normal. What matters most is your mindset—seeing weight loss as a journey, not a race.

That’s where we come in. Our expert coaches specialize in helping you shift your mindset, build sustainable habits, and design a personalized plan that works for you—your body, your schedule, and your goals.
